What We Do

Our Services

Eight roofing services, all of them ours — no subcontracting the job out and no handing you off. Across Lewis & Thurston County.

Architectural asphalt shingle roof covering a steep residential roof slope

Roof Installation

A complete new roof, built for wet winters

A full tear-off and new roof, installed over a deck we have actually inspected rather than covered up. Synthetic underlayment, ice-and-water shield in the valleys and around every penetration, and proper step and counter flashing where the roof meets a wall. In a climate that rains from October to May, the flashing details are what decide whether the roof lasts.

Roof Repair

Fix the actual problem, not the symptom

Storm-lifted shingles, failed flashing, cracked pipe boots, split ridge caps and the wind-driven leaks that only show up when the rain comes sideways. We trace the water back to where it is really getting in, which is very often several feet uphill of the stain on your ceiling.

Shingle Replacement

New shingles without a full tear-off

When the deck and flashing are still sound but the shingles are done — curling at the edges, cupping, or shedding so many granules that the gutters run gritty — the covering can be replaced on its own. We will tell you plainly when that is the right call and when you are better off putting the money toward a full roof.

Leak Detection

Find where the water actually gets in

A ceiling stain almost never sits under the hole. Water runs along the underside of the sheathing and down a rafter before it drops, so the entry point is regularly several feet away and uphill. We work the roof and the attic together to find it, rather than sealing the nearest likely-looking gap and hoping.

Roof Inspections

Know what you've got before it rains

A methodical look over the whole roof: covering, flashing, penetrations, gutters and, where it is accessible, the attic. Useful before you buy a house, before the wet season, or after a storm has been through — and you get the photos, whether or not there is any work in it for us.

Roof Cleaning

Moss and algae, taken off properly

West of the Cascades, moss is not a cosmetic problem. It holds water against the shingle, lifts the edges, and works its way under the course above until the roof leaks. We remove it without pressure-washing the granules off — a pressure washer takes the moss and the remaining life of the roof with it — and treat what is left so it stays gone.

Gutter Cleaning

Clear before the fall rain arrives

Douglas fir and cedar needles pack into a gutter far tighter than leaves do, and a blocked gutter in a Lewis County November overflows straight down the fascia and into the wall. We clear the runs and the downspouts, flush them through, and tell you about any sagging hanger or rotted fascia board while we can still see it.

Skylight Repair

The most common leak on any roof

A skylight is a hole in the roof with a frame around it, so it is the first thing to check when a room starts leaking. Usually the glass is fine and the flashing kit, the seal or the perished gasket is not. We repair and re-flash rather than replacing a unit that has years left in it.

Why Us

Why HJ Gomez Roofing

A new local company with the two things that are hardest to buy: owners who answer the phone, and a straight answer about what your roof needs.

You talk to the owners

Rosa and Juan run this business themselves. There is no call centre and no salesperson between you and the people who will be on your roof.

24/7 emergency call-out

Regular work runs Monday to Saturday, but a roof does not fail to a schedule. There is someone to reach at any hour when water is coming in.

English and Español

Both owners speak Spanish and English. You get the roof explained properly in whichever language you would rather have the conversation in.

Built for this climate

Moss, algae streaking, months of steady rain and wind-driven leaks. We build and maintain for the weather west of the Cascades, not for somewhere drier.

Local, and close by

Based in Centralia and working a 30-mile radius. A short drive means we can get to you quickly, and we come back if something is not right.

A straight assessment

If a repair will do, we will say a repair will do. Telling you that costs us a bigger job and keeps you as a customer, which is the trade we would rather make.
