Roof Cleaning

Moss and algae, taken off properly

West of the Cascades, moss is not a cosmetic problem. It holds water against the shingle, lifts the edges, and works its way under the course above until the roof leaks. We remove it without pressure-washing the granules off — a pressure washer takes the moss and the remaining life of the roof with it — and treat what is left so it stays gone.

How It Works

1

Look at the growth

Moss, algae streaking and lichen all come off differently, and how far in it has got decides the method.

2

Remove it by hand

Brushed and scraped off, never blasted. A pressure washer strips the granules and shortens the roof's life.

3

Treat what's left

Treatment kills the roots left in the shingle mat, which is what stops it growing straight back through the winter.

4

Clear the run-off

All of it ends up in the gutters, so the gutters and downspouts get flushed before we call the job done.
